LADIES EDGED OUT BY LEICESTER

The first half was played mostly in Leicester's half with the best chances falling to Emily Slough and Leah Cudone.

A minute into the second half a tricky run down the right from Hollie Coulson saw her cross the ball low where it was stopped by the arm of a Leicester player and a penalty was awarded which was scored by Lisa Porter.

Straight after the re-start, the Cobblers switched off and conceded a cheap free kick on the edge of our penalty area. The resulting delivery was whipped in to the box, and after a scramble and Leicester slotted the ball in for 1-1 with the Cobblers appealing for a foul on the goalkeeper.

The game became heated after a tackle from Imogen Ewbank saw a Leicester player react badly. After both sets of players had calmed down, City found themselves down to 10 players.

From the resulting free kick Leicester went 2-1 up.

The Cobblers only real chance in the second half fell to Kate Swanson after her blistering pace managed to carve out a half chance but she shot wide.

Some off the ball antics towards the end of the game resulted in a player from either side being sent off.

Managers John Reynolds and Steve Healy were left frustrated with the ultimate outcome of the game as it leaves the cobblers dangerously close to the bottom of the league; Healy said, "We desperately need to start picking up points where we can if we want to compete at the highest level and look to re-build for next season as we are passionate about moving this Ladies team forward."
