Elite Female Development Programme

Northampton Town FC Football in the Community supports the development of youth female football in the way of an Elite Female Development Programme, Female Futsal Development Centre, Girls Mini Soccer Club, and curriculum time, after school and girls only holiday courses.

The Northampton Town FC Female Elite Development Programme enables girls to play football at a high level against opposition in other surrounding Counties. Each year between 150 to 200 girls attend trials held in June / July allowing girls to compete, to gain their place in our prestigious programme.

Those players who are successful enough to receive a place have two training sessions a week from a FA UEFA B License (minimum) qualified coach and other experienced staff, including specific goalkeeping coaching.

The Elite Female Development Programme is in its 1st year, previously a Centre of Excellence for 10 years (Est. 2001). The girls play regular fixtures in the Female Development Programme at U11, U13, U15 & U17 level. The girls play against other professional football clubs that include Watford, Reading, Coventry, QPR, Tottenham Hotspurs, Charlton, and Swindon. The girls will also play some friendlies against other local clubs. At the end of U17's our players have the opportunity of feeding into our Ladies team to continue their playing careers.

Every year we endeavour to get the girls to attend tournaments and to take part in residential tours, which have included in the past, Holland, Germany, Italy, England and France. Giving the girls the opportunity to spend time away from home and with their squads as part of our personal development programme. As well as playing football the girls are involved in fitness assessments and health awareness workshops.

PLEASE NOTE: Where as previously, when the club was a Centre of Excellence, players were not permitted to play for a local club. In the Elite Female Development Programme, players are allowed to play for both local clubs and our programme. However, NTFC FITC advises all players that priority is given to NTFC training and playing to have the best possible environment for learning and development.

How do I get recognised for the Elite Female Development Programme?
• Each year around June / July FITC holds trials, to attend contact FITC
• By attending another FITC activity i.e. Female Futsal Development Centre, Girls Mini Soccer Club, Holiday Courses, FITC After School Clubs
• Receiving a recommendation from your team manager or school teacher
• Or attending a 4 to 6 week Trial, contact FITC

Finally, due to funding being withdrawn as a whole in the country, our programme can't run without a fee per player for the season as we continuously look for sponsorship and investment to ensure the longevity and continuation of the programme.

For further details on gaining a trial call our Women’s & Girls Senior Football Development Officer 01604 683 759 or email stephen.healy@ntfc.tv
